Thomas James Bernard Petosa
The world has lost a GREAT man, role model, hero and good friend to many. The man with a huge heart passed away unexpectedly from complications related to heart disease. Tom will never be forgotten. His family and friends will miss him immensely, but we take comfort in knowing that he is at peace with the Good Lord in Heaven.
As one of ten children in his large Italian Catholic family, Tom grew up in the Silver Lake/ Everett area. He graduated from Perpetual Help Grade School and attended Blanchet High School. At age 17, he joined the United States Navy and served aboard the U.S.S. Bon Homme Richard from 1961 to 1964. He enjoyed a successful, 40-year career as a Seattle-area independent grocer and is current owner of Petosa's Family Grocery in Edmonds.
Tom is survived by his wife of 38 years, Betty Jo; daughters, Selina Petosa-Boyle, and Elizabeth Petosa; son, Thomas (Charlie) Petosa; son-in-law, Ed Boyle; daughter-in-law, Anne Petosa; grandchildren, Travis Petosa Pigott, Aidan Boyle, Allie Boyle, Caroline Petosa, Charlie Petosa, Jr.; many nieces and nephews; sisters, Patricia Audette and Claire Rhodes; brothers, Fr. Joseph Petosa, Leo (Marina) Petosa, Nick Petosa, Robert Petosa, Michael (Jeanette) Petosa, and Vincent (Karen) Petosa.
He was preceded in death by brother, John Petosa; and parents, Michael and Mary Petosa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 9, 2005, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 630 - 7th Avenue N., Edmonds.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Tom's honor to the American Heart Association, Pacific/ Mountain Affiliate, 1280 S. Parker Road, Denver, CO 80231.
Arrangements entrusted to Beck's Funeral Home, 425-771-1234.
