Victor Shul Obituary

Victor Shul

Victor Shul, beloved son, brother, and friend, passed peacefully from this life into the presence of the Lord on May 9, 2009.
Victor was born on July 30, 1943, in Quantico, Virginia. Having grown up in Virginia, California, and Hawaii, his spirit of adventure took him to many places but it was the Seattle area he came to love most and spend the better part of his life.
A natural athlete, Victor's passion for tennis lasted even after his diagnosis and surgery for pancreatic cancer in the summer of 2005.
While cancer may have robbed Victor of his body, energy, health, and life, he remained steadfast to who he was through the most difficult days. His courage, honesty, and indefatigable attitude never wavered, and he was an inspiration to all who crossed his path.
Victor's free spirit, love of life, extraordinary kindness, and honest heart will be missed and cherished forever by all who knew and loved him. His life touched many, from loved ones and friends to total strangers, all of whom he never stopped helping. There will never be another like him.
Victor is survived by his loving Father and Mother, Victor and Blanche Shul, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his brother, Brian Shul, of Marysville, California; and his sister, Maureen Shul, of Castle Pines North, Colorado. Victor's loving family will forever cherish every moment and memory that his love, joy, and laughter brought to their lives, and to all who knew him.
Victor is also survived by his dearest friend of nearly 18 years, Cathy Brekke, of Everett, Washington. Having shared many happy years together, it was Cathy who lovingly cared for Victor throughout his brave and courageous battle with cancer the past three and a half years.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at Solie Funeral Home Chapel, 3301 Colby Ave, Everett.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org (1-877-272-6226).

I just want to say, to my dear old friend Victor - whose crazy sense of humor I trust will still appreciate these sentiments - "Happy Trails" .. and "Thanks for all the fish"!

You were ... and I believe still are ... a beautiful spirit. I appreciate your having shared your laughter, light and love with me - all the more extraordinary because, in the 15 years or so that we knew each other, we never met face-to-face.

Our time writing letters and talking on the phone, about everything from the "latest and greatest" business opportunity to sports, from life in general and family and friends in particular, were (and still are) meaningful to me.

I never told you (or anyone else) this, but whenever I was feeling a little down, I'd sometimes call your answering service just to hear your uplifting message, "Hi! This is Victor. I hope you're having a TERRRIFFFICCCCC Day!!!".

----------------------

In fact, I just stopped now to listen to it one more time. (smile)

------------------------

I'll miss you Victor, but I'm glad you're in a better place.

Peace & Love,
Richard Bowen

PS I would be willing to join with others who might like to contribute a few dollars a month, just to keep Victor's answering service from being disconnected ... and be able to hear his message - and voice again.

Gone from our sight,
but never our memories.
Gone from our touch,
but never our hearts.
Someone so special...
...can never be forgotten.

A Thank You & Tribute To My 'Best Buddy'

Dear Victor,
Thank You for being a part of my life for the last 61/2 years.

The first day, that we met and talked on the phone, I could feel my life would be forever touched by your carefree spirit and loving gratitude for life, and those feelings have been right on.

We have shared so much with our daily phone conversations over the years.
You became my 'Life Mentor' & 'Success Coach', through life lessons you have helped shape my New life and future ahead.

The first short 3 years have been marked with great lessons, endless laughter, and beautiful singing. You always said that I was your greatest 'appreciative' audience, and that you enjoyed singing to me. You also said I was the best student in the world, with such a deep desire to learn, and would immediately apply what I was being taught.

The last 3 years have been filled with difficulty and challenges. It was tough to feel your 'free spirit', as it became bound with FEAR & illness, Kemo & Drugs.
The laughter dwindled significantly to extinction. You still had a desire to sing to me, even as you became without much breath to do it.
Although your spirit became bound by these things, it was never broken.
Thank You for your courage.

In all your life threatening challenges, you continued to teach me life lessons, and mentor me in the business.
I want to thank you greatly for the example of 'child like' trust and love you had toward people. You have touched so many lives. The 'ripple effect' of love that you have given to others will continue to extend through out the eternities, and your 'legacy of love' will LIVE ON & LIVE STRONG.

We often laughed over the joke of having an opportunity meeting in heaven.
Well, with your love of speaking to people and magnetic, vibrant personality, they will need to use the biggest room in heaven with the big golden doors swung open with people standing in the doorway to hear you speak. (-:

Your absence is so huge, just like your bigger than life spirit.
We will all greatly miss you.
Thank you for the many gifts of you, that remain in each of us.
We will carry on your 'legacy of love', always.

Love Forever,
Your Friend Michelle
