Virgil Inman Obituary

Virgil Dean Inman

Virgil Dean Inman, 76, of Sun City West, AZ, passed away on July 16, 2010 on the 28th anniversary of his son Curtis Paul Inman's death. He fought a long and hard battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Virgil was born in Oso, WA on June 13, 1934 to Erwin and Frances (Babe) Inman. He graduated from Arlington, WA in 1952. He attended EV.C.C. and Western WA College. After college he enlisted in the Army as a medical corpsman assigned to Fort Brooke Hospital in Puerto Rico as a physical therapist. Virgil retired after 33 years from the Port of Everett as a Longshoreman.
Being a gifted athlete in high school and college, he continued his love of sports as a fastpitch softball player until age 47. "Golf" after retirement was his second job.... He also enjoyed his other home in Prescott, AZ. Our kind and gentle Virgil will be missed by his many friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Mary (Berg) Inman, of Sun City West, AZ; his children, Carrie (Gerry) Thompson, Catherine Inman, Cheri (Jim) Tri, Jeff (Alicia) Landre, Ryan (Dina) Landre; his grandchildren, Tori, Tarin, Tana, Samantha, Greer, Riley, Jessica, Jaclyn, Chandler, Jordan and Dylan; and one great-grandson, Brandon. He also leaves behind his sister, Lois (Frank) Diedrich; a step-sister, Marlene (Kearney) Strand; and many nieces and nephews.
At Virgil's request there will be no formal services. His wishes were to be remembered as he was.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Arizona, 19702 N. Routzahn Way, Sun City West, AZ 85375.
My life rest in your hands, in your hands is the rest of my life.....

Carrie, Cathy & Cheri,
My heart goes out to you and your families in the loss of your dad. I remember him just a little from when we were in school but what I do remember is that he was a kind & gentle man with a smile that you couldn't forget. Keep those memories alive by talking & sharing all the stories that you have together.

It was with a real sadness that I saw the passing of Virgil. We graduated together from Arlington HS and he was always a very nice person - as your obituary expressed it - gentle. I remember our Biology teacher, Mr. Pistorese, calling Larry Farrel, Virgil and I "Gus and you two bird dogs". Our class was close and this will be a great loss when we celebrate our 60th anniversary in two years as Virg was our Class President. Sincere sympathy to all the family. May God comfort you in this more than difficult time. Marie Gustavson Nelson

Dear Mary,

It was truly a shock to read that Virgil had left us. The world would have been a far better place if he had lived at least another 20 years. Thinking of you with love and comfort at this very sad time.

Mark and I were so saddened to learn of Virg's passing. Mark has such fond memories of Virg, Larry Farrell and Bob Vosika hanging out at his Mom and Dad's (Ed and Charlotte Wellman) when Mark was just a little guy. Mark was impressed by the cool, older athletes who were always so nice to him. Then as we all grew up, getting together as adults was fun. While we haven't seen you for a long while, we have fond memories of Virg and of you, Mary. Our deepest sympathy!
