He had a long career as a Special Education Teacher in the Swansea Schools where he served as the Teachers' Union President. Kind and patient, George worked with children and adults with special needs and developmental disabilities for over thirty years. He is remembered with love by: daughter Lisa Quigley and husband Dr. Douglas Mello; son Douglas Quigley; daughter Erin Coroa and husband, Joshua Coroa.; grandchildren Noah and Owen Quigley-Mello, Aidan Quigley, Clara and Hazel Coroa; his beloved brother David F. (Partington) Quigley and beloved brother Richard F. Quigley, Jr.. His companion was Kathy Goncalo. George was a history buff with a penchant for the Lizzie Borden murder mystery. He was a co-founder and president of The International Lizzie Borden Association and served as curator of the museum. The Discovery Channel interviewed and cast George in a documentary about the case. He was published and wrote extensively on the subject of Lizzie Borden. He was a devoted genealogist and spent years researching, compiling and writing his family history. George loved his grandchildren, discovering historical relics, following politics, cooking, telling corny jokes, watching New England sports teams, listening to rock & roll and spending time with his pets. Memorial services will be private. Donations in his memory can be made to The Special Olympics or to Kasem Cares.

Very sorry to hear the sad news. George and I were best friends from 8th grade, high school, college, etc. He was a member of my wedding party. It is almost like a part of my past is gone. I've attached a picture his father took of George, myself and my brother when we were sophomores in high school.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and George.

My heart grieves for the loss of my dear Uncle George. He enjoyed making people smile and laugh. I learned a lot about our Quigley-Partington-Sullivan-Wilbor family history from him and appreciated the time and effort he took to research, document, and share those great stories. He loved his family so very much. Prayers and love to cousins Lisa, Doug, Erin, and all of our family.
