Manuel S. Diogenes

1933 - 2021

Manuel S. Diogenes 88 of Tiverton, RI passed away on August 7, 2021 at St. Elizabeths Medical Center in Boston, Ma. He was the husband of Madeleine (Arruda) Diogenes for 63 years. Born in Somerset, MA, he was the son of the late Lillian (Fernandes) and Manuel S. Diogenes. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the US Postal Service in Portsmouth and Newport RI. He had served in the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of the VFW Post 5392. A Communicant of Holy Ghost Parish, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Tiverton. and served on the Home CORP for the Knights and also worked the Monday night Bingo. He was also active with the Senior tax program of RI as well as a poll worker for the Town of Tiverton. Manuel also was a golfer and a prior member of the Mantaup Country club. He enjoyed playing cards, slot machines and traveling with groups of Friends. He and his wife had renewed their wedding vows in Cana Galilee during one of their trips. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Charles Diogenes and a daughter Monica Kelly (Donald), along with a grandson Raymond Dunlea (Vania), a granddaughter Andrea Dunlea and great grandchildren, Cameron Medeiros, Olivia Dunlea and Serenity Coyle along with Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by siblings Mary Cabral and Louis Diogenes. A service wii be held at Pocasset Funeral Home at 10am on Friday Aug. 20th with internment at Pocasset Hill Cemetery on Main Rd, Tiverton, RI. Visitation 9 to 10am prior. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to St Jude Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105 in his memory.
