Always thinking about Tom. He was a great help at NABI. Kept me on the straight and narrow.

Dear Pat,

I was so sorry to hear about Tom.

I first met Tom about a week after I started at NABI. I was hired as a program manager for the
NJ Bus design. I reported to Willis who was the Sr Program manager and had a lot of experience building and testing busses. I was assigned about 10 engineers to complete the design. All were young, mostly Indian, and recent graduates, and like me had no experience in bus design. What a relief when Tom came on board. Another guy with gray hair and a wealth of general design experience. Tom and I were getting to know each other and getting a feel for our staff and status for the design. About 2 weeks later Willis had to leave for AZ to start testing the first prototype. I was overwhelmed now in charge.
Good thing Tom was there to keep me on track and taking charge of some of the young engineers. With Toms help the program kept moving forward, even though the design parameters kept changing.

Every Friday we would go to lunch and would laugh and talk about the old days. I took a job back in PA when my 3 months contract ended. I know Tom stayed on with NABI for a longer time with several call backs.

Tom was a great guy and one of the best engineers that I have ever met.

I will miss him as a friend and coworker.

With Condolences,
Jim Rainey
