Barbara Thrift Obituary
YORK - Mrs. Barbara Green Thrift, 60, of 4930 Billy Wilson Road, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at her home surrounded by family and close friends.
Services for Mrs. Thrift will be 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Eastview Baptist Church, 1430 Gordon Road, with the Rev. Rick Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Thrift was born in Rock Hill and was the daughter of the late Carl Miller Green and the late Evelyn Jennings Green Rainwater. She was a member of Eastview Baptist Church and an office assistant at Palmetto Pediatrics in Rock Hill.
Mrs. Thrift is survived by her husband of 42 years, Howard Wayne Thrift; her daughters, Mandie Steele and husband, Chris, of York, and Kylie Outen and husband, Chad, of Marshville, N.C.; her brother, Jim Green and wife, Lynn, of Concord, N.C.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Steele, Karleigh Steele, Mason Outen and Reagan Outen; and her lifelong friend, Kathy Comer.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, 2011, at Greene Funeral Home, Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Rd., Rock Hill, SC 29732, and other times at the home.
Memorials may be given to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Barbara was the bus driver I had as I entered first grade and she was the first woman who entered my heart as my friend. She continued to recognize me as I grew up and always spoke to me and I always introduced her to people as my "first bus driver" and that big beaming smile of hers would shine through. She took care of us kids on the bus. I guess now she's taking care of them in heaven. Rest in pease Barbara, Love you, Aggie Ferguson Mackey!

Mandy and family, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to all of you. Your Mom was a special lady, and now she has reached a new chapter in Eternal Life. If we could only see her now... running down those streets of gold praising her God. One day we will see her and all our loved ones again... what a reunion that will be!

I worked with Barbara at Palmetto Peds many years ago. She had a heart of gold and a smile on her face whenever you saw her. Barbara will truly be missed. She was a wonderful lady. I knew her from Palmetto Peds as well as church and a family friend. God gained another angel and I know she is looking at us today. She went to be with the father on my father's birthday..so maybe she went and had a party in heaven with him. I will miss her just like I miss my father.

Heaven gained an angel. Barbara was loved by so many people, she touched so many lives. I remember trick or treating at her house growing up. I remember seeing her at church homecomings. She and my mom were friends since they were little kids (they even look alike). Everytime I saw her she had a big ole' smile across her face, which would make you instantly smile too! She will be missed by all who were blessed to know her.

I am so sorry for your loss! I've known barbara for years i use to come over all the time when i lived across the street. she took me to the hospital when i was in labor with my youngest girl.she was such a great person she tried to help anyone in need she will be deeply missed.god be with you all!

I am so sorry for your loss! I've known Mrs. Barbara since Kylie and I were very young. She was always such a big help to me when I went to the doctor's office with my girls. Heaven definitely made a huge gain, and I will miss her deeply!

Barbra was a very sweet person and she loved her family. I was blessed to have meet her and her spirit will live on forever in those who she loved. I'm sorry your having to say that you'll see her later but this isn't a goodbye because you will see her again!! Barbra is in Gods hands and he will take care of her and draw to him and he will comfort and see you through this difficult time. I met Barbara at Palmetto Peds and from the beginning we were close. Aside from her warm smile and friendly disposition, her faith and her walk as a Christian shone brighter than anything. Today we can all smile as we miss her knowing she is in her rightful place...with her MASTER in Heaven where Cancer isn't even a thought! Her faith carried her to the end and spilled over into eternity! What a glorious celebration. Ms Barbara, we will sorely miss you but are so happy for your gain!
