ROCK HILL - Mrs. Emily Fields Buddin Honeycutt, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Dallas Regional Medical Center in Mesquite, Texas.
Services for Mrs. Honeycutt will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2010, at Saint John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park - Cherry Road.
Born in Society Hill, S.C., Mrs. Honeycutt was the daughter of the late Ephrain D. Fields and the late Susan Margaret Hay Fields. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where she was formerly the financial secretary for many years and was active in the Bible Study Fellowship. Mrs. Honeycutt taught school in several Rock Hill District Three Schools. Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her husbands, Ardrah Lorenz "Ike" Buddin Jr. and James L. Honeycutt.
Mrs. Honeycutt is survived by her sons, Richard Daniel Buddin and wife, Patricia, of Rock Hill and Ardrah "Ike" Buddin III and wife, Susan, of Mesquite, Texas; her daughters, Susanne Buddin Heriot and husband, James, of Lexington, and Melissa Buddin of Rock Hill; her brother, Duncan Fields of Greer; her sister, Polly Donald of Darlington; her grandchildren, Richard Dunlap, Joanna Durstine, Nathan Buddin, Olivia Taylor, Brantley Taylor and Emily Buddin; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 2009, at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Honeycutt's name to Mommies Enduring Neo-Natal and Infant Death (MEND), P.O. Box 1007, Coppell, TX 75019 or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, 2nd Floor, Bethesda, MD 20814.

I only knew her as Mrs. Buddin. She was my home room and Math teacher in the 7th grade. She encouraged and challenged me. We need more teachers like her today. Her love for teaching molded minds and built character in her students.
