ROCK HILL - Mrs. Geraldine R. “Mimi” Metzger, 89, of Harbor Chase, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012.
A native of Battle Creek, Mich., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Pricey Chatfield King. Born May 3, 1923, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She attended Bethel Baptist Church in Clover, S.C., for many years, where she was a member of the Golden Agers and the Adult Sunday School Class. Geri also loved arts and crafts, gardening and her family dearly.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard “Dick” Metzger; one sister; and two brothers.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth Ann Stripland of Fort Mill; two granddaughters, Lisa Marie Crews of Tennessee, and Lori Ann Cabaniss and her husband, Kenneth, of Fort Mill; three great-granddaughters, Rebecca Ann Arrowood and her husband, Dustin, Kimberly Nicole Crews and Jennifer Lacey Crews, all of Rock Hill; one great-great-granddaughter, Lisa Michele Arrowood; one brother, Bud King of Battle Creek; and one sister, Miami Besser of Eustis, Fla.
A service to celebrate Geri’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bart Plaxco officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. on Sunday until the hour of service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hills Cemetery.
