James Dickerson Obituary
YORK - James Crowder Dickerson, 88, of 850 Owens Road, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012, at his home.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 102 S. Congress Street, York, S.C., with the Revs. Trey Doyle and Thomas B. McPhail officiating. Visitation will follow immediately in the William G. Benton Fellowship Hall.
James was born in Shelton, S.C., and was a resident of York. James was the son of the late David Melvin Dickerson Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Crowder Dickerson. He was a 60-year member and deacon of First Baptist Church. James was the owner of Dickerson Motor Company in York. One of the many joys of his life was working with his sons to serve the people of York. He received the Purple Heart for his service in the U.S. Army, was a member of the Philanthropic Masonic Lodge #32 in York and York County Crescent Shrine Club.
James is survived by his wife, Mildred H. Dickerson; sons, James M. Dickerson (Sara) and Daniel W. Dickerson (Sandra); brother, Julian Dickerson of York; and son-in-law, Joe Barrett of York. James has seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Dunlap Dickerson; daughter, Carol Dickerson Barrett; sister, Ila Dickerson Ferguson; and brother, D. M. Dickerson Jr.

I am very sorry for the passing of Mr. Dickerson. I know that you all will miss him greatly, church family as well. I believe he is with his spiritual family now and was very blessed during his life to have such a good loving family that is so clearly shown. My prayers are with you.
