Jane Pittman Obituary
Mrs. Pittman was born September 8, 1924 in Clinton, SC, the only child of John W. and Irene Curlee Little. She graduated from Clinton High School and Winthrop College. She worked in Charlotte as assistant Home Demonstration Agent prior to moving to Rockingham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Pittman.
Surviving are her children, Virginia P. Sikes (William), John L. Pittman (Lucinda), Mary Elizabeth P. Parr (Dewey), Jane P. Modla (J. Jacob), Carol P. Latimer (Dr. Harrison), Ira B. Pittman (Tina), and Dr. Irene P. Aiken (Dr. Kevin); seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A service to celebrate her life will be at 3pm Sunday at First Baptist Church in Rockingham. The family will greet friends following the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 201 N. Randolph Street, Rockingham, NC 28379.

The Pittman families...living side by side during my youth...were cornerstones of everything good and important in Rockingham. Jane was not just a matriarch of a family, she was an incredibly important leader and teacher of children. Her loss creates a family, friend and community vacuum. Evidence of her success as a mother is easy to spot as her children are simply outstanding humans.
