MARILYN CALHOUN Obituary

Marilyn T. Calhoun Marilyn Calhoun, 77, was born on May 15, 1937 in Tacoma, and went to heaven on August 17, 2014. She was preceded in death by her father Herman Fuchs, her mother June Fuchs, and her siblings Hermie and Suzanne. Marilyn graduated from St. Leo's High School in 1955, and went to St. Joseph's Nursing School in Tacoma, becoming an R.N. Marilyn was working at the Northern Pacific Hospital on McKinley Hill when she met Don Calhoun, who worked at his family's Richfield station on 46th and Pacific. They were married in May 1962. She stopped her nursing career to raise her family. Marilyn did the bookkeeping for the gas station, and later went to work for the Tacoma Pierce County Health Department until she retired in 2003. Marilyn loved to work in her yard and to quilt. She planted flowers every spring and her yard was always beautiful for backyard barbecues with her family. She also enjoyed going to coffee every Friday morning with her sisters. She will be dearly missed by all. Marilyn is survived by her four children, Karen (Jamie), John, Peter (Lena), and Alison, nine grandchildren, Emily, Sam, Jessica, Sheena, Patrick, Brandi, Ashlee, Jordan and Tristan, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Pam (Bill), Judy (Mike), Mary (Joe), Gretchen (Mike), and Heidi (Dan), her sister-in-law Rosanda (Fred), and many nieces and nephews. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 11:00 am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment at Calvary Cemetery. Please leave online condolences at www.GaffneyCares.com.
