Marjorie Harris Obituary

Marjorie "Marge" Arlene Harris

October 7, 1937 - June 14, 2024

Fort Mill, South Carolina - Marjorie "Marge" Arlene Harris, 86, of Fort Mill, South Carolina, peacefully passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, with her loving family by her side. Born October 7, 1937, a native of Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Charles Meredith and Mildred Welever Meredith. Marge graduated from DeVilbiss High School where she met and married her high school sweetheart, John "Jack" Harris. They were married for 68 years until his passing in December of 2023.

After retirement, Marge and Jack moved to Marge's "happy place" the mountains in Brevard, NC where they enjoyed the beauty that surrounded them, outdoor activities, and many memorable parties. They later moved to Fort Mill, SC where she was active in her church and enjoyed countless memories with many wonderful neighbors/friends.

She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She had an amazing sense of humor, full of life and endless energy. Marge had a way to effortlessly light up a room and bring people together. A second mother and grandmother to many, that was her caring and loving nature. She was very active and enjoyed golf, water aerobics, and decorating her home for every holiday. When not on the move, you could always find Marge playing card games, planning the next party, and spending time with her family and friends.

We find comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on through the lessons she taught us, the love she shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

Marge is survived by her daughters: Karen McKenna and Gail Harris; sons: Jack and Gregg (Cindy) Harris; sister, Kim (Rick) Bostater; grandchildren: Lindsey (Mike Draper), Jack, Jr. (Tasha), Charles (Nicole), Adriene Harris (Scott Stern) and James McKenna; great-grandchildren: Devon, Keirah, Aubree, Regan, Novella, Madi, Ansley, and Delaney; and many more loving family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents (Charles and Mildred Meredith), husband (Jack Harris), and sister, Joan Meredith.

A service to celebrate Marge's life will be held at Lake Wylie Lutheran Church, 2906 HWY 160 West Fort Mill, SC 29703 on Saturday, June 29th at 12 p.m. with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy are asked to consider Lake Wylie Lutheran Church of Fort Mill or the Community Cafe of Fort Mill.
