Michael Gonzalez Obituary

Michael (Mike) Gonzalez, 71 of Plainville, passed away at his residence peacefully on September 3, 2025, surrounded by his immediate family. Michael was born on August 12, 1954, in Bristol CT, the fourth child to the late Salvador L. and Jean Gonzalez of Plainville.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Daniel, Edward and John.

Mike attended Plainville High School and post-graduation pursued a career in carpentry and eventually became an independent contractor. The quality of his work and attention to detail made him a sought after craftsman and kept him active in his community for many years. Outside of his family, his lasting legacy will be all the projects, big and small, he completed during his time in the profession. Mike was a generous soul and was always willing to lend a hand to family and friends without hesitation.

Mike was an easy man to love and always led by example, demonstrating each day the true meaning of honesty and compassion. In his free time Mike was a self-taught guitarist, avid fisherman and enjoyed trips to the casino. He will be dearly missed by all the countless lives he touched throughout his life.

In the words of his daughter, "He was the greatest man we ever knew; the first man we ever loved."

He is survived by his wife, Sheila Gonzalez of Plainville; his son, Matt and Mikayla of Newtown; his daughter, Christen and husband Corey Gauthier of Cromwell; his siblings and their significant others: Phillip and Ivonne, Steven and Tim, Frank and Cheryl, Judy and Jim, Rick Manchester and Nancy; sisters in-law, Ellen, Diane, Teresa; his grandson, Aiden; nieces, Tammy, Marisa, Heidi, Cheyenne, Danielle, Grace, and Jasmine; nephews, Eddie, Aaron, Andrew, Steven, Christian, Jimmy, Evan; grand-nephews, Jonathon, Max, Michael and Nathan; and grand-niece, Gianna. He also leaves behind dear lifelong friends Bizzy, Brian, and Jeff.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thanks to Masonicare Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided. A private celebration will be held for the family at a later date.
