CHESTER - Rev. Mickey A. Barnes, 59, died Sat., Aug. 21, 2010, at his residence.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Barron Funeral Home, with Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home.
Born July 27, 1951, in Greensboro, N.C., Rev. Barnes was a son of Mary Boseman Barnes and the late Deward Atwood Barnes. He was a graduate of Edgecomb County High School and Blessed Hope Bible Institute. He was retired from Bank of America after thirty years and was also the pastor of Faith Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Doris G. Barnes; one son, James Barnes and his wife, Adrienne, of Weatherford, Texas; two daughters, Mary P. Lipscomb and her husband, Chris, of Clarksburg, W.Va., and Rebecca Barnes of Chester; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Collin, Caleb, Cohen and Cole Lipscomb, all of W.Va., and Carter, Campbell and Carson Barnes, all of Texas; and two brothers, Donald Barnes of Matthews, N.C., and Steve Barnes of Mint Hill, N.C.

To the family of Rev. Mickey Barnes,
I extend my deepest sympathy to everyone on the lost of Rev.Barnes. I worked with Mr.Barnes for eight years while he was employed at Bank of America/Hewitt Associates. I just found out yesterday of his passing, we all know Rev. Barnes is in a better place. Mickey will be missed.

Mrs. Doris, Words cannot express the sympathy that we have for you during these days of bereavement for you. Though I only spoke to Bro. Mickey a few times, his Godly principles and character left a HUGE mark on my life. If there's ever been a man to live upon this earth that followed Jesus' perfect example of what a man should be, it was Mickey. I know of not one thing within his life that would bring any reproach on Jesus Christ whatsoever. Heaven't Sounding Sweeter all the Time.
