Norma Nichols Obituary

Norma Harris NicholsROCK HILL - Mrs. Norma H. Nichols, 80, of Catawba, S.C., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, at Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Robert Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Laurelwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Nichols was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Spartanburg, S.C. She was the daughter of the late Harlie William and Eulalia Kirby Harris. She was a member of First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Nichols worked as the executive secretary at South Carolina National Bank, Caldwell Street for many years. She worked at York Technical College in student services and taught evenings. She was the volunteer services director at Piedmont Medical Center. She retired as administrative assistant from the Baxter Hood Center and receptionist for the York County Visitors Bureau. She enjoyed reading and spending time with family. She was the widow of John McCain Nichols Sr. Mrs. Nichols is survived by her sons, Mac Nichols (Rhonda) of Rock Hill, Bill Nichols (Karen) of Richburg, S.C.; and her daughter, LuAnne Chapman (Brian) of Catawba; seven grandchildren, John, Jennie, Martha Ann, William and Emily Nichols and Matt and Jake Chapman; and her great-grandson, Liam Nichols. Memorials may be made to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or First Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, 201 E. White St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
