Phyllis Moore Obituary

Phyllis C. Moore
September 20, 1948 - May 11, 2023
Rock Hill, South Carolina - Rock Hill, SC - Graveside Funeral Services for Ms. Phyllis Carol Moore, 74, who entered into rest May 11, 2023, were conducted Saturday afternoon, May 13th, at 2 o'clock in Sunset Hill Cemetery, North Augusta, SC, with the family receiving friends at the cemetery following the service.
Phyllis was born September 20, 1948, to the late George W. Moore and Ruby Walker Moore. She was a native of North Augusta, SC, having made Rock Hill, SC her home for most of her life. Phyllis graduated with a BS degree in education from Winthrop University, where she also received her Masters degree in reading. Education was paramount to Phyllis and she continually received educational certification throughout her career. She retired with over 40 years of service, from Rock Hill School District 3 where she taught at the elementary level. Following her retirement, she was an adult educator for a number of years until her health prevented her from continuing her career. Phyllis's greatest passion was teaching. She truly loved each of her students, but even more, she loved watching her students learn.
Phyllis was a member of First Baptist Church of Rock Hill and was actively involved and thoroughly enjoyed attending the Bible study fellowship. She loved traveling with some of her dearest friends, shopping, entertaining, and attending the Masters golf tournament. Phyllis had a host of cousins who she was close to and enjoyed spending time with them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Rock Hill, 481 Hood Center Drive, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Phyllis was such a warm, generous neighbor. Even through her cancer battle, she was thinking of others around her. We will miss her very much.

It saddened me to hear of Ms. Moore's passing. I knew her through her work at Oakdale Elementary.
Such a true servant to God, children and all she come to love.

I knew Phyllis when she was teaching Adult Ed classes at York Tech. She always smiled, went the extra mile to assist me with students we shared, and cared deeply for not only the educational progress of students but for their personal well being. I admired her dedication and compassion.

Phyllis was an exceptional person. We taught together and went through our Masters Program together. We kept up with each other through the years. I am sorry to hear of her passing. Heaven has gained a special angel. I am sure she is smiling even more now.

I met Phyllis thru friends and she became a friend. We had a lot of fun on her first cruise, when she ate too much because she could order whatever she wanted. Lesson learned! I´ve tried to think of a time that I saw Phyllis without a smile on her face and can´t come up with one. Heaven has gained a lovely angel who is at peace with no more pain.

I am sad to lose such a wonderful, warm and considerate friend. Phyllis was always generous with her time, happy to do helpful things for her coworkers. She was such a thoughtful and kind person.
Although she is no longer among us, Phyllis holds a place in the heart of many.
