One of our best has passed!
His name was Dick Wrenn. He was an avid golfer, tremendous salesman, and one of the nicest people you would ever hope to meet. Dick loved life, and it became apparent that he felt this way from the moment you met him. His smile was genuine, in fact it was contagious.
I first met Dick during an event at Pinetuck Golf Course in Rock Hill. We played 18 holes together that day, and sat around the club house laughing and telling stories for another 3 hours. I was just one of many that could say the same things I am saying now about Dick Wrenn. Over 500 people at his funeral on Monday could attest to that fact.
Over the years Dick would play golf at Pinetuck Golf Course, Carolina Country Club, where he was a member for a while back in the 90's, and many other venues. Each place he teed up a golf ball he was gaining friends. In fact, if you were a golfer playing in a tournament that Dick was also participating in, you would hope that you would be fortunate enough to play in a foursome with Dick. You might not play well that day, but you were darn certain to have a blast. That's because Dick Wrenn knew the secret to a great life. You simply treat each day as a blast from God. Life is a gift, and you should learn to whistle the theme from Andy Griffith as you stroll through his scenic fairways. This past Monday over 500 people at Dick Wrenn's funeral whistled the theme from Andy Griffith. Somewhere in heaven Dick smiled as he stood on the practice putting green at Heavenly Gates Country Club. The sign on the club's entrance read Heavenly GATES Country Club, everyone welcome. We only request that you smile, and enjoy your day
Dick winked toward the Lord, I got this!

What a pleasure to have known such a classic Southern gentleman! Everyone that knew him was better for it.
I first met him at M. R. Snyder, lost touch for a while and was delighted when he came to work with us at Sterling Services. His customers loved him and he was a pleasure to be around. He will be forever in our hearts.
Our thoughts go out to all the relatives - especially to the grandkids he spoke so often and fondly about.

I remember all of those early mornings and long days of region/all state band auditions he hauled me and Abbey to so many years ago. I loved his quiet drives but I always knew he was listening to us and sometimes I caught him quietly chuckling at our ridiculous comments. Sending me love to the Wrenn family.
