I'm sorry to hear of Truett's passing. For many years, we worked together but most importantly we enjoyed succeses together and laughter in many situations. Life is too short not to grab the good things and enjoy them. Truett was a true gentleman and friend. In his passing, it brings me joy that he is at peace.
Our prayers are with you and your family.

To the family of Mr. Truett McSwain. My name is Bill Pippin and I am an employee at the Carrier Heavy Chiller Plant in Charlotte, NC. I wanted to tell you what a legacy this fine man left at Carrier even though he was here for only a short time.
Truett was not even my supervisor, but we spoke to each other every morning that our paths crossed. He always had a smile on his face and something nice to say. Never did I hear him utter a foul word or talk about someone else. Since he left, people would often ask if anyone knew how he was doing. One of my good friends told me only today of Truett's passing. Those of us who knew him, although not as well as we would have liked, are honestly saddened.
Judging by the comments I have read he must have been a wonderful Christian husband and father. Even though he is gone, just imagine all of the lives he must have touched...now, that is a legacy!

To The Family of Truett McSwain:
I am three years older than Truett and I knew him at West End many years ago. I remember him with a smile on his face. He was always kind with a sweet, sweet spirit back then. It sounds as if he remained the same as he grew into manhood. I am so sorry for your loss. I'd like to share a poem that someone shared with me when my husband died:
"What deep joy, to walk on the sacred ground of another's heart, to know that there is love from which I never shall depart. I must tread softly, for it is a place of tenderness. . .a place where angels are, enfolding me in happiness."
I know you will miss your husband, dad, grandfather, brother, and friend. May God hold you ever so close right now and in the days ahead.

I met Mr. McSwain one year ago. He was the consumate southern gentleman. I was touched by his attitude toward his illness and his knowledge of what was truly important in life. My entire family was touched when we read Truett had passed. When Gail & I married we started attending Woodland. I grew up in a small church where ever-
yone knew each other so the size of Woodland was a big change for me. Truett always made me, the little fish in the big pond, feel comfortable at Woodland. When Truett was director of church sports we all, my family, bond-
ed with him through the youth basket-
ball program. We will miss his big heart and smile.

May God Bless

Becky, Jon & Cheryl:
I worked with Truett the entire time at Continental Tire when it was "General Tire" until my disability retirement in 2000. I worked in Human Resources and was in contact with him on a regular basis. He was a fine, upstanding gentleman and a Christian man who loved his family with all of his heart. He was always telling me a story about you, Becky, or one of the children's episodes. He was one of my "top of the line" guys!! I am sorry I didn't know about his illness and untimely death until this weekend. Please accept my sympathy and prayers. I lost my only brother last year...also age 62. Death is such a sting, but after that the victory!!

I knew Truett, Mickey and Jerry & Terry Wingate (the twins) years ago through a fellow piano teacher, Mr. Bob Ballieu. I was at Indian Land and those guys came to join in our recital there. Of course, we lost contact, Mr. Ballieu left IL, and then we picked up on our memories after we were both at General Tire.

I do know that Truett loved his family and his Lord through the many conversations we had over the years. He was so very proud of you, Becky, and the children and grandchildren.

May God bless you and give you comfort over the coming Christmas season and the weeks and months ahead of you.

Sincerely,
Brenda Pettus Watts
