Barbara Schoene was born Aug. 2, 1938, to parents Donald and Ruth Grove on the northwest side of Chicago. After graduation, she started working for American Airlines. It was there she met the love of her life, Larry Schoene. They married, had three children and in 1973 moved to Sodus.
It was there that Barbara took up many hobbies. From dog shows and dog training to numerous arts and crafts. Pottery and stained glass were her favorite. Besides her arts and crafts, she was actively involved in 4-H, Berrien County Kennel, ECHO, St. Joe Valley and 3rd Leg dog clubs. The love of her life was her poodles, Zak and Wysper, going to shows until her health declined. Barbara was also a member of the Moose Lodge 1570 and the E.P.O.E. 541.
The greatest pleasure of Barbara's life was her grandchild, Brandon Brown. Their last trip together was turkey hunting in Florida.
Barbara was active with many senior clubs in which she loved to play pinochle. She loved living at the Villas and wishes all the best to all of her friends and neighbors.
Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Schoene, and her parents.
Survived by her sister, Dorothy Britton; son, Dr. Edward Schoene (Dr. Sue Black Schoene); son, Daniel Schoene; daughter, Bonnie Schoene Brown (Bryan Brown); grandchildren Brandon Brown; Ashley (Guy) Cornell; Justin (Heather) Brown; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
