Cherry Ann (Parks) Nash, 80, departed this life in the comfort of her home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
She was born in St. Louis, Mo., to the late Hattie Pearl and Jessie Parks on March 12, 1943, and relocated to Benton Harbor in 1948.
Cherry graduated from Benton Harbor High School and Lake Michigan Junior College, and retired twice; once from the city of Benton Harbor's finance department after 16 years of service and again from Bethany Christian Services (Grand Rapids) finance department after working 15 years.
She was dedicated to her family and very active in the community and church. She taught her family the importance of work and perseverance and was always welcoming and friendly to newcomers. She was adventurous, loved to shop and she has traveled the world.
Cherry Ann is survived by her husband of 62 years, James Nash Jr., and their four sons and families: Charles Jeffery, Richard, Christopher, and Kirk, along with 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, a special daughter, Mrs. Margaret A. Malone-Smith; brother-in-law, Howard Haynes; along with a multitude of family and friends.
Please join us in celebrating her life during the public viewing from 1-5 p.m. on Friday, April 14, at Brown Funeral Home, 627 Jefferson St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503. The family hour will start at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 15, with the funeral service beginning at noon at True Light Baptist Church, 900 Thomas St., SE Grand Rapids, MI 49506. The repast will be held at the church immediately following the internment.
