Dennis A. Collins, 69, of South Haven passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025, at Bronson South Haven Hospital following an extended illness.
A graveside memorial service will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Fairview Cemetery in Watervliet with Pastor Lonnie Truelove presiding. Cremation has taken place. Those wishing to share a memory or leave a message for the family may do so at www.duffieldpastrick.com.
Dennis was born on Dec. 14, 1955, in Watervliet to J.R. and Ovie Collins. He graduated from Covert High School in 1974. Dennis had been employed at Bosch in St. Joseph for a number of years prior to his retirement. Dennis had a love for horses. In his younger years, he rode broncos in the rodeo, up until he took a nasty fall that broke his collarbone. He also loved to go fishing and hunting with his best friend and brother, Jim. When Jim passed away, part of Dennis died with him.
Dennis is survived by his daughter, Jessica Collins of Murchison, Texas; two stepsons: Jeff and James Haliburton; his brothers: Larry (Teresa) Collins of Coloma and Paul (Lois) Mathis of Kalamazoo, Mich.; his sister, Sheila (Eudell) Smart of Coloma; three grandchildren: Wyght, Cassidy and Nivaa and numerous great-grandchildren.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents: J.R. and Ovie Collins; his brother, James Mathis and two sisters: Sharon Franklin and Shirley Warner.
