Ed W. Stover, 79, of Berrien Springs died on Monday, Sept. 25, 2023.
He was born on March 27, 1944, in Benton Harbor, to the Late Victor C. and Jeanette M. (Ewalt) Stover.
Ed graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1962 and attended Lake Michigan College before serving honorably in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Fiske.
On May 23, 1970, Ed married Janet Daggitt and they built their home in Berrien Springs.
He worked for Prudential Insurance Co. for more than 25 years before joining the Centennial Wireless team in 2003 and retiring in 2009. Ed was a member of Lakeshore Christian Church, American Legion Post 85 where he served as chaplain, and Lest We Forget. Ed was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #298. On Aug. 31, 1994, he received the highest honor of being conferred the 33rd degree in Boston.
Ed was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at his log cabin in the North Woods. He was happiest on the water sharing his pontoon boat with family and friends.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Janet L. Stover; children: Kristin L. (David) Albers, James P. (Cali), Stover; grandchildren: Bryce Albers, Evan (Stephanie) Albers, Stella Stover, Hudson Stover; and brother, the Rev. Robert (Kathy) Stover.
A memorial service for Ed will take place at noon, on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Lakeshore Christian Church, 5565 Washington Ave., St. Joseph, MI 49085 with Pastor Jim Matthews officiating. Visitation with Ed's family will take place one hour prior to the service at church. Ed will be laid to rest in Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in Ed's name can be made to Lakeshore Christian Church or The Children's Dyslexia Centers, A Charity of the Scottish Rite Freemasonry.
