Helen Polashak, 77, of Watervliet passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Hanson Hospice Center, Stevensville, following an extended illness.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. on Thursday at Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma. Visitation with the family will begin one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Helen was born on Sept. 10, 1944, in Caraway, Ark. Her parents, John and Beatrice Martin, moved the family to Michigan soon after her birth.
She was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School.
Helen and Larry Polashak were married on June 19, 1999, and shared 23 wonderful years together. Helen was a person who was very easy to hold a conversation with and she never met a stranger. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting.
Helen is survived by her husband, Larry; her sons: Adam McKie of Indiana, Terry Polashak of Sister Lakes, and Jeff Polashak of Delaware; and her sister, Chris McKie of Covert.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons: John McKie, Jeff McKie and Paul Imler; and her daughter, Brenda McKie.

I only met the Polashaks briefly when I visited them at their home. Assigned by the Hospice to be with Helen when Lawrence has an appointment or run an errand. It never happened Helen passed away. Their kindness stayed in my heart. Really nice couple.
