Herman A. Saitz, 89, of Henderson, Nev., passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2023, at St. Rose Dominican Seiena Hospital in Las Vegas.
Herman was born in South Bend, Ind., on April 27, 1934, to parents: Otto and Hilda (Miller) Saitz.
Herman graduated in 1952 from Berrien Springs High School, where he excelled in sports earning four varsity letters. He was also active in the Debate Club and Thespians. He was awarded a football scholarship to South Dakota Wesleyan College.
After earning a degree from Western Michigan University, he attended the Detroit School of Law where he graduated with honors. He practiced law in Cassopolis, served as the Cass County prosecuting attorney and elected district judge before moving to Las Vegas, where he finished his 40-plus years of practice. After retirement, he spent winters in Las Vegas and the warmer months in Berrien Springs where he enjoyed visiting with friends.
Herman knew no strangers and made new friends easily. His contact list on his cell phone was very long. Until recent years, he regularly kept in touch with most of the people on that list. He enjoyed sports his entire life and was a huge fan of Notre Dame University.
Herman is survived by his immediate family. His wife of two years, Dr. Kay (Adams) Saitz; daughter, Michelle Menzie and grandchildren: Jackson and Addison of Sandy Shores, Texas, stepdaughter, Heather Amezaga of Ann Arbor, brother, Jerry Saitz, sister-in-law, Vennetta (Merrill) Saitz of St. Joseph; nieces: Vicky Konzen of Kalamazoo, Mich., Shelly Negrevski of Plainwell, Mich., Joy Brycta of San Diego, Kimberly Miller of Denver and nephew, Eric Saitz of Berrien Springs.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Otto and Hilda; sister, Ellen Wilson; and niece, Laurie Eller.

I knew Herm for 30 years. He was authentic, humorous, and giving...and he was there when I needed him most. I am blessed to have known him. May you rest in peace my dear friend. My deepest condolences to wife and his family.
