James Scheid Obituary

James Scheid's life began on Oct. 11, 1952, in Benton Harbor.

James was a lifetime area resident and attended both Hartford and Watervliet Public Schools.

He worked most of his adult life for Hanson Cold Storage and as a security guard at Palisades Nuclear Power Plant.

James loved the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing on Paw Paw Lake and the Paw Paw River, bike riding, and cheering for old Notre Dame.

James died on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at home.

He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory including his son, Andrew (Megan) Scheid; two grandchildren: Parker and Jack; life partner, Pat Scheid (Fullriede); a brother, Tom (Joanne) Scheid; many nieces and nephews, and his dog, Tucker.

James is preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Helen Scheid; two brothers: Pete (Pat) Scheid and John Scheid, a sister, Marilyn (Jim) Malin and a nephew, Bret Malin.

Hutchins Funeral Home is assisting James' family with cremation.

A graveside service will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 7, in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Watervliet.
