Keith Alan Yerington, 67, of Dowagiac, formerly of Hartford, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2024, at Corewell Health Niles Hospital, Niles.
Pete, as he was known by most, was born on Nov. 2, 1956, in St. Joseph, the son of Frank and Florence (Hartke) Yerington, both of whom preceded him in passing.
On Nov. 3, 1990, Keith was united in marriage with Debra Wesaw, and she survives, along with a daughter, Julia Yerington; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his beloved dog, Sam; a brother, Frank Jr. (Connie) Yerington; a sister, Cheryl (Jon) Hiler; step-daughter, Ginny (Scott) Rice; two half-sisters: Rosemary Hill and Betty Vega; a half-brother, Gerald Williams; and many other family members and friends.
Pete was formerly employed at Bangor Cooler, J&B and worked for the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. He was known as Gear Head because of his love for fixing cars. In his spare time he was known to party around the town.
The family will welcome friends from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the Calvin Funeral Home, Hartford. The service to honor Pete's memory will be at 1 p.m. on Friday Feb. 23, with Deacon Arthur Morsaw officiating. Pete will be laid to rest at Rush Lake Indian Cemetery.

Roscoe may you rest in peace and say some good words for those of us left here in this world. We had some great times and I would´ve shared some at your wake but I have prior engagements Thursday night and Friday. Take care brother!
