Kenneth Allen Stanisz, 72, of Coloma passed away on Sept. 30, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ken was born on Oct. 22, 1950, to John and Grace Stanisz of South Haven.
He was a graduate of South Haven High School in 1969, and later went on to study drafting at Ferris State University.
Ken dedicated 10 years of his life to working as a skilled drafter for Clark Equipment and was proud to be an engineer.
In 1975, he married Karol Mckie and they enjoyed more than 48 years together. During their marriage, they went on to have two children – Renee and Kenny – and together built a wonderful home and life.
In 1984, he and Karol opened Starlite Video, a successful video and electronics business that they ran together for more than 20 years. Ken's career journey later led him to excel in sales while working at a local spa company, and later at Lowe's, where he was always the go-to guy if you needed help or advice.
Ken was also a passionate sailor and could often be found on his boat when he wasn't at home. He raced with the St. Joe River Yacht Club for many years, and has a room full of flags and trophies highlighting his success.
Ken was a stubborn force of nature, determined to provide the best for his family and friends. He was the man you turned to if you needed something built, something fixed or if you needed advice on just about any subject. He likely had the answers and was more than willing to share his knowledge.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents: John and Grace Stanisz, and his son, Kenneth Jr.
He is survived by his wife Karol, daughter Renee (Jason) Catania, grandsons: Joseph and Benjamin Catania; his brothers: Larry (Jean) Stanisz and John (Kathy) Stanisz, and his dearest friend Bill (Donna) Orvis.
