On May 29, 2022, Marianne Ives passed away at the age of 96.
Marianne was born on Nov. 4, 1925, in Benton Harbor to Charles and Rose Nuccio.
She graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1943.
She attended Millinery (hat-making) school in Chicago. She was residing in the city when the end of the war in Europe was announced and celebrated.
Marianne lived in San Diego from 1972-88. From 1973 until her retirement, she worked in the front office of the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club. She met many celebrities over time. "They were just ordinary people." In her spare time she enjoyed painting, drawing and crafting.
Marianne was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters: Sandra (Heyn), Josephine (Marino); and brother, Phillip Nuccio.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas Ives (Mary) of St. Joseph, Terrance Ives of Benton Harbor, and Phillip Ives (April), of San Antonio.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Peter Ives of Avon, Colo., Annie Ives (Zach) of Portland, Ore., Cameron Ives and Lauren Ives of San Antonio, and step-grandchild Ashley Fanslau of Fort Meyers, Fla.
A private celebration of life ceremony will be held with the family. Those wishing to leave an online condolences may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services, 556-9450.
