Patricia L. Snyder

Patricia L. Snyder, 93, formerly of St. Joseph and Benton Harbor, a longtime special education teacher with the Benton Harbor Area Schools, died on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022, at the Willows Assisted Living in St. Joseph.

Services celebrating her life will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at the First Baptist Church in St. Joseph. Burial will follow in North Shore Memory Gardens. Friends and family may call beginning at noon on Friday at the church. There will also be a visitation on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the Fairplain Chapel of Florin Funeral Service in Benton Township.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, The Multiple Sclerosis Society or the ARC.

Pat was born on April 24, 1929, in Benton Harbor to Milo and Vivian Brown.

She married her husband, Loren Snyder, in 1949 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Together, they celebrated 52 years of marriage. Pat was honored as giving birth to the first set of twins born at Memorial Hospital.

She came from a long line of teachers and received her degree from Western Michigan University in special education. Pat was also active at the Maple Grove Center for many years and was a longtime teacher with the BHAS in special education. She was very active in the Multiple Sclerosis Society in support of her husband.

Pat loved cats and loved to travel. She was also active in many other groups including the Alpha Beta Epsilon Society at Western, the Artist Guild at the Box Factory and an active longtime member of the First Baptist Church. She was a kind and compassionate individual in all of her endeavors.

Her family includes her children: Judy Snyder of Benton Harbor, Jerry (Lois) Snyder of Audubon, Pa., and Suzanne Miller of Mansfield, Texas; her five grandchildren, her nine great-grandchildren, and her five great-great-grandchildren.
