Robert Randall Obituary

Robert "Bob" Raymond Randall passed away in Clarks Summit, Pa., on June 30, 2024, after a battle with cancer. He was 83.

Bob was born in Benton Harbor, Mich., and raised in Coloma, Mich. The proud son of Coloma's longtime mayor (Glenn Randall), Bob had a deep love for his hometown. Although he resided in six different states throughout his life, he always considered himself a Michigander at heart.

During the Vietnam War, Bob served in the U.S. Army as a chaplain's assistant in Thailand and at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. While serving at Walter Reed, Bob met his future wife, Jane Louise Cummings of Cape Cod, Mass. They were married in June of 1967. During their marriage, Bob and Jane often kidded each other about how Jane proposed to Bob one day before he proposed to her!

Throughout his professional life, Bob was a jack-of-all-trades: in addition to his military service, Bob was a teacher, business owner, school administrator, Realtor and department store manager. In all these roles, Bob was deeply respected for his sterling work ethic, steady-handed leadership and warm collegiality.

While Bob had many memorable qualities, he will perhaps be most remembered for his friendly, outgoing personality. To Bob, nobody was a stranger – just a friend he hadn't yet had the privilege of meeting. He genuinely loved people, and he had no greater pleasure in life than making a new friend or visiting with an old one. Bob was also deeply committed to his family and his Christian faith. He served in numerous roles in various Baptist and evangelical churches throughout his life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Glenn Randall and Elsie (Emhoff) Randall. He is survived by his wife: Jane (Cummings) Randall; his sister: Patricia (Bob) Spaulding; his daughters: Laura (Michael) Edwards, Robyn (James) Sim and Sarah (David) Gunn; his grandchildren: Zachary Randall, Justin Randall, Mackenzie Randall, Caleb Gunn and Felix Gunn; his nieces: Cassandra (Martis) Pone and Angelene (Daniel) Conkin, and numerous extended family members.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Faith Brethren Bible Church (120 Chestnut Ridge Rd., New Paris, PA, 15554). Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.

A private burial of ashes will take place in Coloma Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the missions fund of Faith Brethren Bible Church in New Paris, Pa.
