2024
Ruby L. Terrell was one of six children born on Feb. 16, 1937, to the union of Percy Harris and Idella Marshall in Beulah, Miss. She departed her earthly body on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at home with her children by her side.
Ruby, a true daughter of the faith, confessed her hope in Christ at an early age, and was baptized at Mount Moriah MB Church in Beulah. She moved to Michigan in 1956 with the love of her life, Archie L. Terrell, and raised 12 children together.
Ruby was a member of Ebenezer MB Church. She sang with the Sanctuary Choir and served as a member of the Mission Society. She worked in laundry management until her retirement, but the best job that she held and loved was being the "Matriarch" of the family. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family; best known for her Southern chicken and dressing, and caramel cake.
She was an avid card player (Tunk and Spades) where she enjoyed playing with her siblings, children and grandchildren.
Mother Ruby humbly lived by the motto "Treat people right, that treat you wrong."
She leaves to cherish her memories on Earth, five sons: Leroy (Brenda) Terrell, Freamon (Sheila) Terrell, all of Grand Rapids, Mich., Artie Terrell, Leamon (Brenda) Terrell, Antonio Terrell all of Benton Harbor and one bonus son, Ricky Rollins Terrell of Albuquerque, N.M., six daughters: Ruby Jones, Natale Terrell, Demetrias (Wayne) Cunningham all of Grand Rapids, Shirley Whitehead of San Antonio, Kimmerly (James) Lloyd of Eau Claire and MaRhonda Terrell of Benton Harbor; 50 grandkids, 102 great-grandkids, 37 great-great-grandkids; sister, Erma Lucas of Lorain, Ohio; and a host of in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Archie L. Terrell; son, Troy L. Harris Terrell; parents, two brothers and a sister.
Homegoing service will be on July 11, at Ebenezer MB Church, 214 E. Britain, Benton Harbor, MI 49022. Family and friends viewing hour from 10-11 a.m. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place in North Shore Memory Gardens in Coloma.
