Our Savior has prepared a place in Heaven for Susan Batsky. It was ready. He also has prepared her for this heavenly place with the blessed assurance of everlasting life through faith in Him. She was ready. She entered Heaven on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2025, while under hospice care at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph.
Susan Rae Batsky of St. Joseph was born July 21, 1953, in Lincoln, Neb., to Ray and Virginia (Hoffman) Haack. She was baptized into the Christian faith Aug. 30, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lincoln, and confirmed her faith May 28, 1967, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Walton, Neb. On Aug. 16, 1980, she married Thomas E. Batsky at Christ Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
Early on in their marriage, she worked as a bookkeeper in Dwight, Illinois Public Schools, and later in Christian bookstores in Fort Wayne, Ind. She was a very caring, thoughtful and compassionate person. In years of better health, she was a wonderful homemaker and loved to spend time in her flower garden. She believed in the power of prayer and touched many lives with her personal prayers and especially through a special prayer group of five equally committed and dedicated Christian women. She enjoyed the blessings of the many wonderful Christian friends the Lord brought into her life, as she also was a blessing to them. She was very devoted to her son Michael and so supportive of her husband's pastoral ministry. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph, where her husband last served until his retirement.
Sue is survived by her husband, Tom; their dear son, Michael and granddaughter Lyanna; her siblings: Susie (Dean) McPherson of Omaha Neb., Paul (Deb) Burner of Lincoln, Jeanie Manzanares of Lafayette, Colo.; special nieces and nephews and by her favorite kitty, Lily.
She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond, her mother, Virginia and her stepmother, Margaret (Burner) Haack.
Memorials may be given to Stephen Ministry at Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Joseph.
A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 619 Main St., St. Joseph, MI 49085. Burial will follow in Hickory Bluff Cemetery in Stevensville. Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel and Cremation Service, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph, MI 49085. "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. ... I am going there to prepare a place for you. ... I will come back and take you to be with me." – the words of Sue's Savior, John 14:1-3.
