Colly Beck died on Tuesday, June 11, after a brief illness, peacefully and surrounded by family.
Colly was a longtime member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Havelock. She was a founding member of the local chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, including serving on the Executive Board. She was well known in Havelock, the town where she resided for more than 40 years and worked as a civil servant at Cherry Point Marine Corps Air Station.
She was a proud veteran, having served in the Air Force during the Korean War, where she met her first husband, Don Huneycutt.
Her second husband, Irving Beck, was a former member of the Havelock Board of Commissioners.
Colly was the youngest of the five children of Fred and Anna Willoughby. Her siblings included Margaret, Jim, Ethel and Freddie. She was deeply affected by the loss of her beloved elder sister, Ethel Dittrich of Fayetteville in January. She is survived by two children, Bob Huneycutt of Durham and Donna Carter of Newport News, Virginia, as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her service will be at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church in Havelock, North Carolina on Saturday, June 29 at noon.
The family would like to acknowledge the professionalism and compassion of UNC Home Hospice services.

I was an email buddy of Colly and when recently I have not heard from her I googled her name and found she had passed. I was friends with her sister-in-law, Bea Humphries and met her that way.
