August 1, 1942 - September 11, 2025
Washington, North Carolina - Barbara grew up in Wilmington and attended New Hanover High School. After High School she attended James Walker Nursing School, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science. She married Ron Hardee in 1963 and was happily married for 44 years. They raised two beautiful daughters and lived in Raleigh, where Barbara worked for Raleigh Medical Group, eventually leading a clinical research team. After Ron's passing, Barbara moved to Washington NC to live close to her daughter Beth and her three grandchildren. She passed away peacefully surrounded by those she loved the most on Thursday, September 11, 2025.
She will be remembered as a devoted follower of Christ, a loving wife and mother, and an adoring grandmother. A beautiful person inside and out, Barbara's sense of style was always on display. We will all miss her sense of humor and her fierce devotion to friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ronald Hardee; parents, Martha Louise Satterwhite and David Henry Satterwhite; daughter, Kristine Preston Kunkel.
She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Hardee (Jack) Wilder; sister, Judith Satterwhite Snowden; grandchildren, Mary Grace Hardee Wilder, William Jackson Wilder, and Madaline Preston May Wilder.
In lieu of flower contributions can be made in honor of Barbara to the North Carolina Community Foundation Wilder Hardee Endowment at 3737 Glenwood Ave. Suite 460 Raleigh, NC 27612.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Bay Leaf Baptist Church, 12200 Bayleaf Church Rd, Raleigh, NC 27614 with Marty Jacumin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends in the fellowship hall following the graveside service.
