Billy Wilkerson Obituary
July 19, 1957 - June 2, 2024
Wake Forest, North Carolina - Billy Morris Wilkerson passed away peacefully with his son by his side on June 2, 2024, in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Bill was a loving husband, father, and friend to many. All will remember his strength, kindness, and ability to connect with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him throughout his life. Bill was born in Marion, North Carolina to Roland Morris Wilkerson and Pauline Virginia Poteat. He grew up in Marion and had a large extended family. He then moved to Cullowhee, North Carolina to attend Western Carolina University. At Western, Bill greatly enjoyed making lifelong friends and memories while also attaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After graduating, Bill was hired by Murphy Oil where he worked for almost 30 years and made an impact on an untold amount of people. It was through Murphy Oil that Bill had the chance to move around until settling in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was there that he met his beloved wife, Michelle, and they lived a picturesque life together with a son, Michael, born in 2005.
In 2012 the family moved to Wake Forest where Bill worked with Liberty Petroleum for 10 years. Bill loved playing golf and in his younger years enjoyed playing baseball. Throughout his life, he spread this passion to all who were around him.
Bill is survived by his son, Michael Carlton Wilkerson, and many more Friends and Family Members who had the opportunity to know Bill and were fortunate enough to spend time with him.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Bright Funeral Home. A Visitation will begin from 12:00 – 2:00 PM.
