Frank Monroe Carroll, 89, passed away Friday, October 20, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Durham. He was born in Durham, the son of the late John Gaston Carroll and Elizabeth Crabtree Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Pierce Carroll.

Mr. Carroll is survived by his brother, Morris Carroll; nephews, Jim Pierce, and wife Natalie, Jeff Pierce and wife Colleen; and nieces Patti Pierce, Megan Barnhart and husband Jeff.

Mr. Carroll retired from the City of Durham where he worked as an electronic technician. He was a member of Gorman Baptist Church and the Dowd Bible Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Gorman Ruritan Club for over 40 years; and the Redwood Volunteer Fire Department where he was the head of the board of directors for 23 plus years. Mr. Carroll was also a U.S. Army veteran.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 25 at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham with Pastor Craig Phelps officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gorman Baptist Church, General Fund, 3315 E. Geer St, Durham, NC 27704. The family expresses their deep appreciation for the love and support received from members of the Gorman Baptist Church and neighbors.
