February 3, 1941 - November 4, 2024
Rougemont, North Carolina - Jackey Wayne Day, 83, of 314 Bill Poole Rd., Rougemont, died Monday, November 4, 2024. Born in Person County, Mr. Day was the son of the late Lenson Vick and Mattie Hill Day. He was also preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Day and his sister, Margie Day Baker. Mr. Day retired as a surveyor with the City of Durham and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He enjoyed whistling and he especially loved his grandkids. Mr. Day was well loved in the community and all there will miss him.
Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Mozelle Gates Day; his daughter, ReAnn Day Morris; one brother, Harold L. Day; two sisters, Priscilla Clayton and Carol Poole; five grandchildren, Taylor Morris, Kasey Morris, Regan Morris, Olivia Day and Hayden Day.
Graveside services will be held 11AM Friday, November 8, 2024 at Person Memorial Cemetery by the Rev. Mark Francis. Visitation will be held from 10-11AM Friday at the Brooks & White Funeral Home prior to the service.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Hill, Jacob Bobbitt, Jason King, Danny Roberts and Harold Jr. Day.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Western North Carolina Hurricane Helene Relief.
