November 3, 1947 - February 15, 2022
Rougemont, North Carolina - Jeffrey D. Scharver passed away peacefully in his home on February 15th, 2022 at age 74. He is survived by his wife Candice Hudson Scharver, his son Chris Scharver (Kelly), his daughter Randi Rollinson (Phil), two granddaughters Riley and Tess Scharver, many granimals, sister-in-law Pat Lepak (Joe) and his nieces and nephews Vicki Leisure (Matt), Matt Scharver (Tracie), Gwendolyn Hudson (Mark Breton), and Adam Lepak.
Jeff was born in Canton, Ohio to the deceased Peter and Thelma Scharver on November 3, 1947. He was the oldest brother to the late Brad, Pete, and John Scharver. Jeff attended Bowling Green State University where he met his wife Candy. Jeff and Candy married on September 5, 1970. Jeff obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Duke University. He worked at Burroughs Wellcome for 20 years as the director of the chemical development lab.
Jeff enjoyed boating at Kerr Lake with his family and loved living on Red Mountain for 33 years. He also loved gardening, hunting, and fishing on the coast. He was a craftsman who enjoyed wood working in his garage. Family and friends enjoyed Jeff's preparation and cooking of wonderful meals.
The family offers a heartfelt thank you to all the family, friends, neighbors, and healthcare providers who have provided love and support throughout Jeff's illness. He was my grandfather on my dad's side and I miss him a lot. He made me my first jewelry box and jewelry and I enjoyed spending time with him in my grandparent's garage with his dog, Ares.
