Jerry Womack Obituary
May 31, 1930 - February 26, 2024
Cary, North Carolina - Jerry Womack passed away on February 25, 2024 surrounded by his beloved family and close friends. Jerry was a gifted athlete who lettered in football and basketball at Spencer High School (Class of 1948). He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he played freshman football. He graduated in 1952 with a degree in Business Administration.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Sides, in 1953. They were married for 57 years, until Nancy's passing in 2009. After graduation, Jerry spent two years in the Air Force. After returning home, Jerry had a successful career in insurance and banking.
Jerry is survived by his devoted sons, Mike and Barry; Barry's wife, Donna; his loving grandchildren, Anna, Kelly, Holly and Allison; and his great-granddaughter, Emery.
Besides his family, Jerry's other great passion was University of North Carolina athletics.
A Celebration of his Life will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at 3:30 PM at Glenaire retirement Community 6000 Theater, 6000 Glenview Garden Place, Cary.
