Knoxville, TN- formerly of Chapel Hill, NC
Major William Geer Jr. born April 13, 1969 to the late Major William Geer Sr. and surviving mother Betty Baldwin Geer. Major passed on July 2, 2020 of heart complications. He leaves to cherish his memories two children: Chanler Obray Geer and Jalen Conley Geer and ex-wife Kelly Marie Geer. A brother Edwin Conley Geer (Rachel), three nephews: Tayshawn Jonathan Geer, Christopher William Geer and Kendal Mason Geer. An honorary sister: Christine B. Smith (Roy), Nieces Laynie Smith, Eva Smith, and Zoe Smith and a host of relatives and friends. Viewing of the body will be at Jones Funeral Home of Chapel Hill, NC from 10am-12 noon on Saturday July 11, 2020 with graveside rites at 12:30 pm at Westwood Cemetery in Carrboro, NC. I was a former employee at regions Bank I worked with major quite often I was a floateller my deepest condolences.. I was just informed of his passing he was an exceptional individual very caring and had a big heart he had a beautiful aura and great spirit. I am so saddened to hear that he has passed. They say the Good die Young and that is so true he was definitely a good one his memory will linger on in our hearts forever.

So sorry to hear the late news on this. Major Greer was someone I called my friend who was also my branch manager on Magnolia Ave. Heaven gained a great man of God and awesome friend to the community in Knoxville Tennessee. My prayers and condolences go out to all his friends and family that surrounded him.

Major. Was a great friend who will be missed dearly. I have seen him in 20 years since we got out of school. His great smile and his calm nature was just one thing that truly let you know he really cared for everyone around him. I will truly miss tou old friend. Rick Foushee

The Family has our deepest condolences. Major was truly a nice and kind person. I met him at Regions Bank after the death of my father, he was very patient and understanding of my situation. God has embraced a gentle Angel.

As an member of the Buccaneer family, I enjoyed watching you and the other members of the group not only play but really represented what was passed was good about being in JC. You reminded me so much of how I played the game. I enjoyed the time we spent together at the last legends game. Take your rest. The rest of the Buc Nation will continue to talk as we do and will assist the Geer family in any way we can. Take you rest Gods team just got a lot better with you joining Alvin.

been at the house on bell valley since mid morning July 2, 2020 after receiving a text from kelly she needed me. major, i post this public because i want folks to know what i saw happen in Ktown the past few days.

Meetin Major in the 7th grade changed and enhanced my life in so many ways... He has been a true and loyal friend since then, and we have had so many discussions over the course of the time between then and now. Major "Schultz" Geer Jr. I just learned of your passing earlier today. It was a total shock. You and Edwin were my little baby brothers for more than 10 years when your mother and father spared time, a dinner table, and the downstairs den with me while I was a graduate student at UNC-Chapel Hill. We talked regularly while you matriculated at ETSU and began your banking career. I took the red-eye from Las Vegas when my little brother asked me to come see you play in your last Southern Conference tournament. That was all you and Edwin had to do - was simply ask. Then you grew and got grown and had families of your own.
Our paths diverged but you and your family remained in my consciousness. I am grateful to see that you created a loving, fulfilled and purposeful life for your family, friends, colleagues and customers.

I knew Major and all of the ETSU ball players from their time in johnson city, we all played ball together at Kiwanis park. Best group of young men I have ever seen come to this community. Major was such a angel; I meet him through Regions Bank after the lost of my father. He was so helpful & kind during a very difficult time in my life. My father though the world of him and wouldnt let anyone help him but Major. My family will be praying for the family in this difficult season. Major was truly genuine...born 3 days after me I met Major way back in 1988 when he and my cousin Calvin played on the same etsu men's basketball team..I can truly say he hadn't changed since then when I moved to Knoxville in 1998 and we reconnected...good man..will definitely be missed by me and I'm sure a lot of others...RIP my friend...love Rob D.
