Michael David Viola, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Hock Family Pavilion. He was born in Kannapolis, NC to the late George and Blanche Grady Viola.

Mr. Viola was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving in Presque Isle, Maine from 1956-1960 and in the Reserves from 1960-1964. He worked for Chemstrand/Monsanto as a chemical technician from 1960-1984 and Union Carbide/Bayer from 1984-2003. Mr. Viola was a member of Bull City Sertoma and served as secretary. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels for Mebane and was a member of Mebane Presbyterian Church. He loved camping and fishing with family at Kerr Lake.

Mr. Viola is survived by his wife, Rebecca Anne Viola; son, Michael David Viola, II and wife, Nikki; grandchildren, Abigail Viola, Aidan Viola; sisters, Nancy Finger, Cindy Viola; brother, Rev. Alex Viola and wife, LiiLii; and sister-in-law, Hazel Viola.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 1st at Mebane Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Jeff Smith and Rev. Dr. H. Alexander Viola officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
