Hillsborough, North Carolina - Richard Odell Simpson, 95, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, He was the son of the late William and Penelope Jones Simpson.
Service-Sunday, October 31, 2021 2:00 PM in Chavis-Parker Home. Visitation one hour before service in the funeral home. Burial in Mt. Bright Memorial Gardens, Hillsborough, NC.
Surviving are wife, Delores Simpson; son, Richard A. Simpson (Chawanda); daughters, Felecia Rene Simpson and Bridget Parks Simpson; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
Public viewing-Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM in Chavis-Parker Funeral Home.

Mr. Simpson is going to be deeply missed and fondly remembered by so many in Hillsborough! I admired and respected Mr. Simpson for his dedication to the community, desire to always to do what was right, the courage to speak and stand up for his beliefs. I'm grateful for the advice, guidance and patience he showed me, all of which helped me get settled in town and learn the community. Talking with Mr. Simpson was always a joy since he always had funny stories to share, including poking fun at himself. After walking away from a chat with Mr. Simpson one always felt good!
The thoughts of many at the Town of Hillsborough are with the Simpson family. His service the planning board and town board of commissioners helped move Hillsborough forward during some challenging times.
