Andree Barsodi Obituary

Barsodi, Andree
Aug 24, 1924 - Dec 17, 2018
The three daughters of Andree Barsodi were saddened by her death at the Ellenton Tidewell Hospice home on December 17, 2018, but always remember her enriching life in Senegal, Northwest Africa; France, and Ohio.
The life of Andree began in August 28, 1924 in Dakar, Senegal where her father Angelin Bocognano of Corsica, France, was employed as railroad supervisor in Senegal for the French government and her mother Hyacinthe was a homemaker. In 1937 Andree finished her studies at the Senegalese Dakar Elementary School. Afterwards in Marseille, France, she graduated with honors from the Lycee Montgrand in 1943 and was employed with the Lloyds of London Fuillet Insurance company in Marseille.
During World War II after meeting her future American husband John Barsodi near Marseille, they married in 1945.
In 1967 she received her Youngstown State University Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Spanish. After 25 years of teaching she retired in 1988. For 34 years she resided in Youngstown and Boardman, Ohio and was involved in several school and church organizations and enjoyed baking French pastries.
In 2003 her husband and she moved to Bradenton where her daughter and son-in-law took care of them.
Her travels throughout the USA, as well as Europe, Canada, Africa, South America, China, and Japan were enjoyable for her.
At the National World War II Museum in New Orleans she was recognized as a member of the Honor Roll Charter and Patriots Circle.
Andree joined God in heaven with her beloved husband, her parents, French and American relatives and friends.
