Lent, David R.
Oct. 15, 1928 - May 24, 2012
David R. Lent died peacefully Thursday, May 24 surrounded by his family. He was born in Oneonta, NY, October 15, 1928 and came to Sarasota County from Niskayuna, NY in 1969. He was a life long educator, a member of Pine Shores Presbyterian Church, a 32 degree Manson of Cobleskill NY F&AM Lodge #394 for over 55 years, a member of the Scottish Rite of El Paso, TX and Sahib Shrine of Sarasota, FL. Mr. Lent was a proud member of The United States Coast Guard and a Korean War veteran. He founded the Woodlin Family Swim Club in Scotia, NY, and developed the Vikings Restaurant in Schenectady, NY.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn, of 60 years, a son Colonel David H. Lent of Tomball, TX and his wife Paula, a daughter Lisa Moseley of Lakeland, FL and her husband Steve, and three grandchildren, Emily Lent, Samuel Moseley, and Jacquelyn Moseley.
A family gathering along with a Masonic and military graveside service will be in Laurens, NY. There will be no local service. Wiegand Brothers are in charge of arrangements. Guest Book available on line at www.wiegandbrothers.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, P.O. Box 25855, Tampa, FL 33633-1016 or Tidewell Hospice, 5957 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.
