Platt, Dean Allen
Oct. 28, 1936 - March 20, 2010

Dean Allen Platt, 73, of Sarasota died March 20, 2010.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Beneva Christian Church. Fellowship with the family will immediately follow.
Dean was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carole Sue; daughter Debbie (cerebral palsy); sons Dean II and Darren; granddaughters Cayla, Casey and Courtney; and sister Donna Puckett of Tavares, Fla.
Dean graduated from Sarasota High School in 1954 and from Florida State University in 1959.
He began his career in Sarasota at First Federal Savings and Loan, implementing one of the first computer banking systems. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard, member of the Sahib Shriners and the Sarasota Freemasons. Dean was commissioned as a charter member of Beneva Christian Church, and served as board chair, elder, and on the board of directors for Little Disciples Pre-School. He served as President of the Manatee Sarasota Association for Retarded Children, and gave over 30 years of service on the board of Children's Haven & Adult Center Inc.
Memorial donations in Dean's honor may be directed to Community Haven for Adults & Children with Disabilities, 4405 DeSoto Road, Sarasota, FL 34235, or Beneva Christian Church, 4835 Beneva Road, Sarasota FL 34233.
