Eleanor M. Cogswell, 88, Northborough, Mass., formerly of Clinton, Mass., Old Orchard Beach, Maine, and Englewood, died Nov. 3, 2008.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at McNally and Watson Funeral Home, Clinton, Mass. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Clinton. Burial will immediately follow the service in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster, Mass.
Survivors include her sister Geraldine Dyment of Northborough, Mass.; a brother Richard and his wife, Marian Cogswell of Spencer, Mass.; a nephew, Edward Dyment of Manchester, Conn.; two nieces, Maura Dolan of Westborough, Mass. and Pamela Velazquez of Worcester, Mass.
Eleanor was born and raised in Clinton, Mass. the daughter of Clarence and Anne (O'Toole) Cogswell. She was a graduate of Clinton High School, Class of 1937, the Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene, and earned a Masters degree in Education from Boston University.
A dental hygienist for more than 20 years, Eleanor later taught for several years in the Dental Assistant Program at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School in Fitchburg, Mass. and at Minuteman High School in Lexington, Mass., before her retirement.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Clinton, Mass., and a former member of St. Margaret's Church in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Eleanor loved spending time outdoors, traveling, photography, and ice cream, and she especially loved the beaches of Maine and Florida and the Boston Red Sox. She was happiest surrounded by her family and a multitude of friends.
A brother, Edward Cogswell of Clinton, Mass. predeceased her.
