Of Waltham, MA formerly of Marblehead, MA and Sarasota, FL. February 5, 2019. Husband of Mary L. Powers and the late Marie (Messina) Carroll. He leaves his children, Jennifer A. Higgins of Walpole, MA, Lisa M. Carroll of Hingham, MA, and Gregory G. Carroll of Brockton, MA; Mary's children, Robert J. Powers (Helen Hughes) of Salem, MA, Richard P. Powers (Teresa) of Portland, OR, David J. Powers (Mindy) of Boca Raton, FL, Gerald M. Powers (Maryellen) of Plum Island, MA, Catherine A. Knowlton (Dan) of Essex, MA; brother of June Andrus of Senora, CA; also survived by grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces & nephews. Family and friends will honor and remember George's life by gathering for a calling hour in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Saturday, February 16th from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial is private. Mary, so sorry to hear about George passing. Rich and I just spoke the other day of how honored we were that you invited us to his birthday party. This was the last time we heard George sing. Rich thinks and speaks of George often when he plays a tune that George played or sang. George was truly one of a kind and will always be remembered dearly. Many hugs we send your way. Much love.

Mary,
So sorry to hear of George's passing. He was a hell of a musician & I was honored to know him & his music.
I was told a number of years ago he had died, obviously that was incorrect. We in FL have great memories of his big, driving band.
