James Boardman Obituary

Boardman, James
Feb. 13, 1953 - Sept. 16, 2008

James "J.B." Boardman, 55, Sarasota, formerly of Bethesda, Md., died Sept. 16, 2008.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 4 at Palms-Robarts Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will follow the memorial service. Palms-Robarts Funeral Home handled all local arrangements for the Boardman family.
James died suddenly at his home. He was currently a chef at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for the last 1 1/2 years, and previously he was a chef at Doctors Hospital. J.B. loved cooking and had been a chef for more than 30 years in many fine restaurants around the country, including Sugar Mountain in North Carolina, Smuggler's Inn in Colorado Springs, Colo., Andrea's Harborside in Santa Barbara, Calif., and the Hillview Grill in Sarasota.
J.B. was born in Washington, D.C., and was raised in Bethesda, Md., where he attended the nationally recognized Walt Whitman High School. He was an avid kayaker who loved nature and life in general.
James is survived by his wife of 20 years, Nina; his parents, Richard and Phyllis of Sarasota; his brother, Bill of Atascadero, Calif.; and his close friends and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Sarasota Humane Society and to the Wildlife Center of Venice.
