JoAnn Spear Obituary
March 28, 1937 - July 18, 2019
JoAnn M. Spear of Sarasota passed away at her home July 18, 2019 at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her husband James, (high school sweetheart) of 58 years. They were married in Battle Creek Michigan August 5th, 1955.
She is remembered by her children Darla (Wayne) Perpall, Gordon (Sheryl), Barbara Waters and Susan Spear. She leaves behind 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Jacqueline (Douglas) Roach and Janet Odom. JoAnn was born in Battle Creek Michigan. She graduated from Battle Creek Central High School. She briefly worked at the Battle Creek Gas Company. Jim and JoAnn moved to St Petersburg Florida in 1955 to start a family. Her husband's career led the family to many destinations and finally had them settling in Sarasota in 1992. She enjoyed being a stay at home mom before returning to the work force as a bookkeeper and retired in 2000. She enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling. Amongst many travels Hawaii was her favorite. Most special occasions and holidays were held at their home with their family. The celebration of life will take place September 7th, 2019 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of First Sarasota The Downtown Baptist Church where they were members. The Chapel is located at 1661 Main Street with Pastor Mark Gibbens officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mom it's been 4 years today. Wish I had 5 more minutes
with you. I miss you so much. Knowing your with dad and your family helps but my heart wants you here. God took you for a reason and will find out when we meet again. Front row at Wimbledon must be amazing. We hope your playing cards,planting orchids and we know your watching over us all. Love you to the moon and back. I see dad in the butterflies and you in the Cardinals. We love you. Darla,Wayne, Kristen, and Jena. I'll continue to look for signs.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM.. Your 1st birthday without you. Doesnt feel right. So many things have changed since God brought you home. Nothing seems right. We all miss you so much. I still talk to you everyday but not on the phone like we used to. We all know you and dad are watching over us and you are helping to guide us in the right way. It's difficult for me to understand why your not here. The lord needed you more than we did and had plans for you. It's only been 8 months but feels like a LIFETIME. Wayne and I are doing okay. We talk to Gordie and Sheryl often and to Susie almost everyday. Keeping in touch with Aunt Jackie and Uncle Doug and Aunt Janet. Just feels surreal. I justed wanted to say I love and miss you so much. I know being with Dad helps me but miss you both. Kristen and Prescott are good and Jena is great. Started a new job and you would be so proud. I hope you both don't have anything to worry about and are dancing,singing,playing cards and your winning. Have to laugh about that. Please know that you are missed by your family. Till we meet again remember we love you and sending hugs and kisses to you on your birthday today and everyday as well. All our love

Well mom Thanksgiving Christmas and New Years have come and gone but your memory is still here. Dad's birthday was 2 days ago since its Leap year so I'm glad you are together. My heart knows your at Peace and God needed you more than us I guess. I want to pick up the phone every day like I did before. Wish i could hear your voice 1 more time or and I love you too. We all miss you every day and my heart still hurts. I'm glad dad was there to meet you. You belong with him. Hope hes playing golf or singing and your by his side as you were always. Till we meet again love and kisses.

Your Celebration of Life was amazing. Just as good as dads. Gordie spoke and then did a rap at the house. Everyone was there for you. Mark did an amazing job on the service. You would have loved it. The same quartet was there as well. Back at the house we cried and laughed alot. I still cant believe that you are not here. You will always be remembered for your love laughter and smile. You are the best mom ever. We all love you and miss you. May you always remain forever young. Love

Mom this is the first time I'm writing to you. This was so unexpected and I think we all are still in shock. You are loved by so many. We talked everyday and something will come on the news or life and I reach for the phone. I miss you so much my heart hurts. I know your at peace and in no more pain..that helps to know but my heart wants you here. You will never be forgotten by me Wayne and our family. Miss and love you to the moon and back.
